Why subscribe?
Subscribers to Magick Window will learn, from a variety of perspectives, how to look within themselves for the answers to hard topics. Self reflection is not a mirror, it is a window.
I use the following perspectives:
Cultural Research
I am a trained anthropologist, and see an enormous amount of value in addressing how our contemporary patterns relate to our common human history. Additionally, experiences of self/self-hood/individuation vary by culture. By providing this lens, I always hope to capture nuance in my writing.
Psychology
I am trained in psychology (B.A), and make constant efforts to delve into the issues of psychotherapy, the DSM-V, and other facets of psychology. Specifically, this publication has relied on many years of talk therapy. I often bring ideas I learn through that into my writing.
Art
While I am not a trained artist, I am an active artist. My path to art has been interesting, specifically in the ways that I avoided any suggestion of my own creativity until I was in my early 20s. I find art to be more than a valuable way to understand ourselves and the world around us, but as an essential way to participate in human history, complex thought, and the variation of expression seen in societies.
Social Justice
I have been an activist since I was 7 years old and I organized a protest with my fellow 2nd graders to stop the destruction of a beloved play-structure. Since then, I have been involved in a variety of issues and organizations. I believe that in order to explore ourselves, we have to first be willing to confront the society of which we are a product, and how our understandings of ourselves can be caught up in colonial thought.
Expect Inconsistency
As I write this, I can say that I do not have a posting schedule. I fluctuate in the energy I can provide to this platform, so please be patient with me as I navigate the difficulties of content creation.
